The age-long sacred Eluku Festival will begin in Ikorodu on Thursday, August 27, with strict warnings to residents who are not entitled to participate in the festival to desist from coming out during the celebration.
During the period of the celebration, necessary rites are expected to be performed in Ikorodu and its environs for peace, unity, economic prosperity, stability and good health of residents and the community.
In a statement issued by High Chief Murisiku Olabanji Oreagba, the Olumale Eluku of Ikorodu Kingdom with the approval of His Royal Majesty, Oba Kabir Adewale Shotobi, Adegorushen V, the Ayangbure of Ikorodu, Rites for the 2026 festival commences 10:00PM Thursday till around 5:30am Friday.
Similarly, another round of rites are expected to be performed on Sunday, August 30th till the next day.
The community appealed to residents especially those that do not belong to Eluku family to adhere strictly to the directive and avoid coming out during the period scheduled for the festival rites.
